5 Things Every Girl Needs For the Christmas Season

What I’m Listening to: Wait for Me by Kings of Leon

Less than a month ’til Christmas Day! With that in mind, you know there’s never a better time to make a list (and yes, maybe check it twice) to make sure you’re ready to have a terrific Christmas this year.

5. A Great Playlist

I don’t just mean Christmas music, (though that’s basically a given). I’m talking about the kind of music you love to get ready to, the kind of music you like to wrap presents and bake Christmas cookies to. A versatile, fun, up-beat playlist that always makes you feel pretty, chic, and maybe even a little bit dangerous.

4. A Killer Dress

Christmas is a time for parties, and whether you are the world’s biggest introvert or the social butterfly to end them all, you should have at least one dress that makes you look fantastic. Every girl has a few styles and colors that suit them best, but don’t be afraid to try something new.

3. A Checklist

I know, I know, nobody likes a checklist. But as one of the few who do, you know it’s my duty to let you know how simple they’ll make your life. (I definitely don’t have an endless supply of color-coded lists that span across multiple devices and notebooks.)

2. A Pretty Lipstick

It doesn’t have to break the bank, though if you are looking to splurge you know I’m going to suggest YSL’s Rouge Volupté Shine. Their colors are perfect for whatever you’re looking for, from darker shades to a super pale pink. For those looking for a less expensive alternative I think that L’Oreal Colour Riche lipsticks are smooth, color-rich options that won’t put a dent in your Christmas shopping budget.

1.  The Christmas Spirit

I bet you guys knew I was gonna get sentimental, but it’s true and you know it. After all, the most important element of Christmas, is Christmas. The excitement, the joy of Kroger selling Sweet Tart candy canes, and of course the sense of a new beginning that’s so integral to the Christian celebration of Christmas.

Peace (on Earth),

Kick

My Makeup

What I’m listening to: You Don’t Own Me by Grace

I’m back, phone in one hand, bagel in the other. (I’m kidding, bagels are the evil stepsister of the doughnut.) Anyways, I figured I’d answer some questions I know you guys have asked in one long post. So, what makeup do I wear? It would take more time than an Ed Sheeran breakup for me to photograph it all, so I’m just using photos from each respective website (links underneath!) Here we go

Eyes

The original Naked Palette by Urban Decay. The best eyeshadow palette ever. I don’t know a makeup artist who doesn’t swear by it.

Lollipops Paris Black Eyeliner. I got this in a Glossybox and have been using the brand since. A great smudge-able liner.  MAC’s Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash mascara. My favorite thing about this mascara is that the double use brush lets you pick how much of a dramatic lash you want. It’s also doesn’t shed much, which is always a plus.

Make Up For Ever Ink Liner. A dependable liquid eyeliner that goes on as easy as liquid liner can.

Face

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Concealer Pencil. I don’t wear foundation, so this concealer pencil is perfect for making small touch ups. (Like hiding the fact I was formatting a book chapter until 2am last night)

So Susan’s Universal Blush. Gone are my days of wondering which exact shade of pink blush I should buy (am I raspberry pink or scarlet fever red?). It’s a super flattering color, and it has a really natural look.

MAC’s Prep+ Prime Fix +. It’s not a setting spray, but actually a finishing spray (according to the website). It goes on light and gives your skin a nice dewy look, even over your makeup. This stuff is my jam.

Lips

Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Liquid Lipstick. Possibly one of the all time coolest makeup innovations, liquid lipstick goes on like a gloss, then dries matte. As long as you’re fairly careful, you won’t have to fix it for hours.

Maybelline’s Baby Lips. My favorite drug store steal. Unlike other lip balms, it won’t dry your lips out. Plus it comes in a thousand colors/flavors.

Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick. I know, the name’s a bit of a mouthful, but it’s worth it. My YSL lipstick was one of two lipsticks I took to Korea and I don’t regret it at all.

MAC’s lipstick. The other lipstick I took to Korea.

Brushes

Artis Brushes. My new beauty obsession. Literally the softest (and most effective) brushes ever.

MAC eye brushes. I’ve had them for a couple years and they still look great. Unfortunately, this exact  set was discontinued, but similar set can be found here

That’s pretty much all of it! (And no I’m not getting paid or sponsored for doing this.)

Party on,

KJ
